sisters

digital kit used: spring breeze from shabby princess. i used paper 53 for the background, 54 for the striped matting. the cool, breezy letters were also included in the kit.

font: used the good ol' comic sans, hehehe.

quote: Sisters annoy, interfere, criticize. Indulge in monumental sulks, in huffs, in snide remarks. Borrow. Break. Monopolize the bathroom. Are always underfoot. But if catastrophe should strike, sisters are there. Defending you against all comers. -- Pam Brown

little blue riding hood

xara xtreme trick: arrange -> combine shapes -> slice shapes for cropping the picture. i did some "manual expansion" of the background picture to make it look like a panoramic shot. changed its color to make it b&w.

digital kit used: Leafy Turquoise Paper from Anne Langpap's May 2006 collection for the background. i just dragged xara's fill color to create the leafy purple matting. used the blue tag, circled ribbon and wavy ribbon accents from the same collection.

font: cheri and akafrivolity from font for kids.

bag of blips

i was looking at some digital kits and when i saw this shabby princess festival kit, i immediately knew which photo goes with this paper. it took me a long time to find words for the title though. good thing "blips" (our group's name) rhymes with "nips," (round chocolate candies, which the background paper reminded me of).

title: "When I want fun I get a bag of blips and make a rainbow."
journalling text: girls on their way to a wedding. picture-taking. make-ups. giggles. "Are we there yet?" laughter. picture-taking. chocolates. food. picture-taking. giggles. color-coordinated gowns. stories. picture-taking.

xara xtreme tricks: shadows, combine shapes -> slice shapes.

digital kit used: Shabby Princess Festival theme. festival paper4 for the background and paper3 for the peach matting. festival elements alpha 52 and 60 for the embellishments.

fonts: porcelain and akafrivolity from fonts for kids

i know what you did last summer

about the photo: Taken on May 2006 at the University Avenue, UP Diliman.
xara xtreme tricks:

  • cropping a picture using combine shapes --> subract shapes
  • matting a picture using combine shapes -> subtract shapes
  • transparency then filling with a color (faded sunflowers on the bottom)
  • combining this with a text a.k.a. masking ("i know what you did..." on top)

p.s. woohoow! i finally have a watermark! i learned how to create it using this helpful photo watermark tutorial.

kuyer

i created this digiscrap using xara xtreme for linux. such a cool software! i tinkered with these tools: transparency, bevel (for the 3D shapes and fonts) and shadows. i'm beginning to like xara xtreme more than inkscape. hehehe.

sweet dreams are made of these

it was a semester of frustrations, hard work, optimism, moral support and yes, sweet success in the end.

about the photo: taken during our after-graduation lunch

inkscape trick: nothing new, just the dear old star maker, duplicate, resize, rotate, etc.
